Are my girlfriends parents allowed to destory gifts I give her?

So yeah I'm afraid of giving my girlfriend a really nice ring for christmas cause we think her mom will try to break it in anyways she can because she hates my guts. So I just wanted to know if I can take any legal action. She's already destroyed the mic and headphones I gave her so I can hear her over the net by cutting it in like 50 pieces and also her Sadie dance shirt my girlfriend made for us which she was so hurt when her mom dumped pieces of it on the ground in front of us. I really would like them to go to family counseling cause her mom has some serious anger issues.
