I noticed my male Robo hamster clawing at the glue holding his aquarium together... Should I be worried?

Just now he dug a hole in the bedding and started clawing aand digging at the corner of the aquarium where the glue that holds it together is... Could he get sick if he ingests it or something like that? Should I maybe get him a bigger cage? I tried putting him in his ball to let him out for a bit, but he REFUSED. He just went on his wheel instead. :\
