Question about estates?

My father ped and we was not in contact with each other.My stepmom was named execitor of his estate .I tried contacting the funeral home to get any kind info and she beat me to it and told them not to give me any info.so far no one will give me any info about his estate or medical issues that may be a hereditary issue with me.How do I find out who the estate was sapose to be split with and how much and get his medical history that can help me,before I spend a ton on a out of state lawyer.She claims he was broke but has been decietful about his ping and other info, but so far i cant find out any info and I'm his bilogical daughter because im not exectitor of estate even tho i'm sure i was named in estate.I dont want to get a lawyer in case theres nothing to fight her for.Can i find out info about my fathers estate without a lawyer is it possible?i feel as if she is hiding something and is reason of her deciet,but unsure just know she has been decietful.does anyone have any ideas?
