Can someone please tell me why the 24 hour news networks are STILL talking about the Casey Anthony non-story?

Yes, its a tragic story. But this is ONE woman in ONE corner of the country. This is a local news story at best. I don't and never did give a rats ***. Can someone explain to me why the entire country is still infatuated with one family while so much else is going on in the world and in the country? A verdict was reached nearly a week ago in this single case. Why do I still see this pointless story on Fox News? Are Americans really that easily distracted from real issues?
